London: "Final Blogs"

Extremely late, but the documentation is necessary!

It’s been a while (ahem….few years) since we’ve been active on this blog and that is all thanks to the wonderful bundle of joy that graced our presence on February 28, 2020. However, we still wanted to bring everything round and finish our updates….and hopefully start posting again now that she’s older and doesn’t require as much attention (ok, she still requires a lot of attention, but at least we are getting a bit more sleep now).

So let’s bring it back to our London vacation. Some of these posts were already written prior to our hiatus, but we’re just now getting around to editing and uploading them. Enjoy the catch up (especially because there’s going to be another London-adjacent trip coming in 2025!).

From Bryan: if that intro sounds familiar, it's because I'm not the only one procrastinating on this blog. Tashia wrote this in April, 2024, and here I am over two years later getting around to updating it. The title of the email was "Final Blogs", but there were actually two more days before our trip was over! Also, it was "Blogs" instead of "Blog", because it included a repeat of Day 5, since we both forgot it was already in our drafts folder...

After the previous day’s travels, we slept in until 9am to ease our way out of the flat by 10am. This time, it was on the tube to head to Oxford Circus.

We started the day with a walk to and through the Handel and Hendrix Museum. While this was not my cup of tea completely, the information was interesting and the house was pretty neat. Bryan enjoyed the history and we got some great photos!

Since it was so late, we decided to grab some lunch from a Mediterranean vendor on the street where Bryan had a falafel sandwich and I snagged a hot dog. We took both over to Grosvenor Park to sit and eat, which was super peaceful.

From here, we walked over to the Marble Arch and Hyde Park area to get on a bus. But not just ANY bus! We got on a Big Bus to take the tour across the city! I had been DYING to sit on top of one of the double decker buses, so that’s exactly what we did! It was a 4-5 hour tour and we got to see everything touristy that we may have missed (and those we didn’t….looking at you Big Ben and all your scaffolding glory). It was a nice, relaxing afternoon.

We got off at Paddington Station and took the tube back to Highgate. I had been on the hunt for some good fish and chips, so we found Toffe’s to satisfy that craving! We shared some fish cakes and chips while Bryan had the calamari and I attempted to eat a cod that was bigger than my head (and failed miserably). We ended up getting desserts to take home (Bryan chose spotted dick and I snagged some treacle pudding….but let’s be honest, we both dove right into both when we got home).

All in all, it was a short, but relaxing day to get us ready for our last full day in London!
